Suspected drug traffickers arrested in the Bronx and Westchester

On Behalf of | Oct 23, 2019 | Criminal Defense |

Multiple searches have taken place throughout the Bronx and Westchester, and these searches have led to the arrests of nine suspected members of a drug trafficking ring.

Agents seized a total of over $170,000 in cash, six firearms, and 17,000 glassine envelopes of heroin. In total, over 30 pounds of heroin and fentanyl were found.

The urgency of the searches

Law enforcement officials were eager to arrest the key players in the drug trafficking ring because of the rise in opioid-related overdoses and deaths in recent years. In 2017, two fatal overdoses and two non-fatal overdoses in the Bronx and Westchester sparked an investigation to bring the drug ring to justice.

The nature of the searches

Several court-authorized searches took place in different locations. Illegal drugs, cash, and deadly weapons were found stockpiled and hidden in a variety of ways. Hidden traps were discovered in cars on one searched property, leading law enforcement officials to seize around 250 grams of fentanyl and more than $35,000 in cash.
